I do not always have the right answer, to be honest I made a lot of mistakes in my life in the past, right now even though I seem like a excellent person I still make mistakes I regret, some I see coming, some I do not. But I learn from these mistakes because I do not cry and disregard them, I consider them and figure out how I made them in the first place.
You cannot become great with the same application of knowledge, only with new approaches and new applications. You need to have the wisdom to see the mistakes you are making and correct them, otherwise you will not move forward.
We as humans are not perfect and never will be but that does not mean we should not all strive for that elusive excellence that is perfection. We do not need to work every piston of our life energy all the time towards it, which is liable to burn us out, something to avoid. We instead should allot time towards each goal in our life in our effort to raise the level of competence in each aspect.
Now mistakes are hard to take, especially when we reached such a high level. But it usually becomes real to you when everyone sees and knows your mistake. Talk flies around on jetpack assisted messengers, before you know it you are being doubted in ability, concerns about your competency under pressure and you might end up get vocally insulted.
You are being written off by the others around you, but you must remember from all the pain comes will, from all the failure comes the success, from the blunder comes the excellence.
As you work towards perfection, you will get knocked down often by your own actions. You have come this far, the strength of your mind has guided and comforted you for this long. You must learn and grow everyday to surpass your own mistakes whether new or repeating, until they become irrelevant. This is a everyday battle but chasing perfection is just as well, chase it! Stand on top of the world until you decide you cannot anymore and retire satisfied you have made your mark on this world.
